Japan Rail Pass Value Calculator
Add the regular ticket total for one traveler, the current pass price, any supplements that only apply when using the pass, and the number of people traveling. The result compares the two complete party costs without pretending to look up route fares.
Planning comparison only. This calculator does not look up train fares, test pass eligibility, or decide whether a route or seat is covered. Enter current official quotes for one consistent traveler category and include every supplement, reservation, private-railway segment, and other uncovered cost that applies.

How this estimate works
- Regular-ticket party cost equals the entered one-traveler itinerary fare multiplied by the number of travelers.
- Rail-pass party cost equals the pass price plus pass-only supplements for one traveler, multiplied by the number of travelers.
- Savings equals regular-ticket party cost minus rail-pass party cost. A negative result means regular tickets are cheaper for the entered itinerary.

Frequently asked questions
Does this calculator find Japan train fares for my itinerary?
No. Add the current regular ticket quotes for one traveler and enter that total. This avoids presenting stale or incomplete route, seat, and operator prices.
Should I include NOZOMI or MIZUHO add-on tickets?
Yes. Put tickets required only when traveling with the pass in the pass-only supplements field. Enter ordinary itinerary fares in the regular-ticket field.
Can I compare adult and child travelers together?
Only when every traveler has the same per-person fare and pass price. Otherwise run the calculation separately for each fare category and combine the totals.
